Signs, Signs, Everywhere a Sign Isaiah 64:1-9 and Mark 13:3-8, 14, 24-33 1. From the time of Jesus until today, there is an ongoing interest in when Christ will return. 2. Some of the signs and events heralding Christ’s return have occurred repeatedly throughout history. 3. Some of the signs heralding Christ’s return seem to refer to specific perhaps celestial events. 4. After identifying specific signs heralding his return, Jesus ends with the warning that no one, except the Father, knows the exact day and hour. So, why give identify the signs in the first place? 5. I believe Jesus gives us the foretelling signs with the caveat that no one knows the exact day and hour, because: . . . 5-1) It’s a warning not to follow false prophets or false timelines; 5-2) When these heralding signs do occur, we shouldn’t be too frightened, because we knew they were coming. 5-3) We can have greater confidence and trust in Jesus, because when the heralding signs do occur we can recognize that he accurately predicted them..
